Bill Petrie
Online one-to-one work
For thoughtful adults in midlife and beyond
I work with intelligent, capable people who are managing life outwardly, yet are finding
that familiar ways of coping, striving, or pushing through no longer serve them well.
This is often not a crisis or a breakdown.
It is a quieter moment of disorientation — a life re-orientation
in which there is a sense that old identities, roles, or strategies no longer fit,
Life now requires a different approach.
My work helps people to regain clarity and integrity
and it enables them to live from a deeper internal authority
preparing them to enter the next phase of life.
Online · time-limited · reflective · grounded
without crisis work, trauma processing, or performance coaching.
A moment of recognition
This work may well be right for you if:
You are functioning reasonably well, but you are tired of pushing.
The old ways of motivating yourself don’t seem to work anymore.
Deep down, you know that something no longer feels authentic, coherent, or aligned.
You know that things need to change.
You are ready to reorient and go forward in your life.
Who this work is for
This work is suited to people who are:
in midlife or later adulthood
intelligent, reflective, and outwardly competent
no longer satisfied by former measures of success
experiencing quiet depletion, loss of direction, or inner misalignment
less willing to push through at personal cost
sensing that “something needs to change,” but unsure what or how
How we work:
I work online, one-to-one, in time-limited formats rather than ongoing therapy.
Sessions are slower, thoughtful, and deliberately contained.
The aim is not to create a new version of the self, but to help life reorganise around what is now true for you.
This work suits people who value depth, clarity, and restraint — and who are ready to engage without urgency, drama, or dependency.
If this fits for you, you’re very welcome to book a free Initial 20-minute exploratory session:

About Bill
I bring decades of experience in psychology, psychotherapy, and contemplative practice to this work.
Because of the breadth and depth of my experience and training, my work often goes beyond the bounds of traditional coaching or psychotherapy to guidance from a much wider view.
Please bear in mind that my focus has moved away from simply fixing or managing problems and trauma processing towards enabling people to negotiate major life transitions with greater presence, honesty, authenticity and inner coherence.
I now work exclusively online, offering packages of one-to-one conversations for those who are ready for this kind of engagement.
Outside of the bounds of my professional life, I am very fortunate to be living with my beloved wife, the artist, Trish Mitchell, in the endless beauty of the English Cotswolds. Photography is my creative joy.
